What "Raw" Really Means
This hair is collected from a single donor and never treated with acid baths, silicone coatings, or steam processing. The cuticle layer stays intact and aligned in one direction, which is what allows it to be washed and re-worn without the frizzing or matting common in processed bulk hair.
Texture & Grip
Kinky texture has the tightest coil pattern of our braiding hair, which gives it the strongest natural grip. Coils interlock readily, holding knots securely and blending almost seamlessly into 4B–4C natural hair with very little slippage.
Post-Wash Handling
Because the cuticle hasn't been chemically altered, the coil pattern will spring back after washing, with some natural shrinkage in length as coils tighten, rather than loosening or falling out of pattern. Detangle before washing, use a downward (root-to-tip) motion, and air-dry or use low heat to help coils reset.
Shedding & Tangling
Because this is bulk hair (not machine-wefted), a small amount of shedding is normal for the format. Tight coils mean extra care when detangling is worthwhile, finger-detangle before combing, and any tangling at the braid root resolves easily with gentle detangling and a light oil.
Chemical Smell
Raw unprocessed hair may have a mild, natural hair scent that fades after the first wash. It should not carry a strong chemical odor — if yours does, please reach out to us.
